In Varna, there are several museums.

We choose 3 of them :

ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

Located in the city center not far from the City Hall.

Here you can see the Thracian gold found here near Varna in a Thracian necropolis (300 tombs discovered in 1972).

Jewels and different objects.

These finds are very coveted and the Archeological Museum borrowed them to the world's largest museums for temporary exhibitions.

Lately, the Gold has been exhibited at the Louvre.

In the museum, you can also discover a little more about the history of the city of Varna, one of the oldest cities in Bulgaria, founded by Greek migrants.

NAVAL MUSEUM

Devices of the naval war or commercial fleet are exhibited at the Naval Museum in the Sea Garden.

Some of the appliances are outdoors and are visible even from the street.

As far as the military fleet is concerned, these are apparatuses which served in the successive wars of the early twentieth century to which Bulgaria took part:
Balkan War, with Serbia, as well as the two World Wars.

There are also instruments, medals and other vestiges of the Bulgarian National Navy.

RETRO MUSEUM

Rather than a museum, it is a dive into the Soviet era from 1945 to 1989 ... in a big commercial center!

Many cars from the ex-communist countries are on display: the famous Trabant of course, but also Skoda, Warburg or Volga ...

Many objects as well: telephones, posters, radios etc.

The Retro museum is located in the Grand Mall - 3 level shopping mall with many shops, and restaurants.

It is an interesting place for visitors who did not live at that time.
